I just want to control my own camera at all times. Animations and graphics of any sort are fine, but don't swing the camera around like it's some sort of theme park ride. It should feel like we are comfortably in our ships. |

A more subtle and classy animation would be appreciated. But if it must be violent and noisy at least do not force the camera. More simulator, less action in this case. |

The problem is the forced camera swing. In no other circumstance are you forced out of a ship-centered perspective. It's not really sickening as much as agitating and overly dramatic for something so common.
Unfortunately, perspective is crucial in how this animation plays out. So the camera must be swung. I don't see a solution except to allow us to disable the animation. |

I understand why the devs don't want people having the option to turn this off. It's seamless and pretty. And I bet half the players would turn it off if they had the option.
This animation is too cinematic. I do not get nauseous per se as some in this thread do, but when I'm jumping repeatedly I do not want my camera to spin, zoom and distort in the way it does. If the animation is here to stay, please work on it. The problem is style rather than motion sickness for some of us. |

Alorae Cloudwalker wrote:It looks like the 10th patch in the Odyssey series was released today, still no option to disable the animations, or any option for a fade-to-black transition. From the dev post, I gather that allowing us to "turn off" the animation is not a solution for them. The best thing we can do is request changes to the existing animation. Eventually it will climb the list of priorities and get looked at. |

My prediction on page 38 was spot on. We should not expect the option to disable. From the developers' perspective it does not make sense to allow us to disable new features. It would be a step backwards, wasting development resources. Reasonable and fair enough.
Here's what I want in the jump:
- Camera control. The initial panning is forced and unwanted. The dolly zoom (a camera effect designed to be unsettling) can be sickening and should be toned down or removed.
- Ship should be visible and centered. I don't know if keeping it visible is possible due to the session change, but it is possible to keep it centered.
I can only speak for myself but these issues are being brought up again and again here. Note that the "warp tunnel" effect does not take these two things away from the player. Even though I'd prefer a cleaner warp effect, it is fine and in no way compares to the horror of the jump effect in this moment. |

Maybelater Headache wrote:You may say "We should not expect the option to disable"- I say it is plain and simple depending on CCP-¦s decision. If they want to do it, they can do it. No disagreement there. It should be simple to allow us to disable the jump animation. But doing so does not aid in the "vision for EVE to have a fully immersive experience" which was mentioned by devs here. I espouse this vision and encourage more immersive updates in the future. But the cinematic devices like camera rotation, shaking and dolly zoom I can do without. These only serve to detract from the immersion of space flight. |

anishamora wrote:I believe the rollback is not performed out of spite and the fact that CCP has a hard time admitting that a feature they poured resources on, lost its appeal 10 minutes in. It is not with spite that CCP keeps the jump. It is part of their vision to immersify and they would rather improve features rather than abandon them. Let us just hope they improve this one. |
